First sandwich EVER

This past week Josh made his own sandwich for the first time ever. I never realized how awkward it is to try to explain spreading something, such as mayo on a piece of soft bread. Now that I am thinking about it. I was having him do it right handed and he's a lefty. Make a mental note. He is really good at getting all the ingredients, bread, mayo, cheese, and knife. Mommy also explained how to open the cheese slices without mutilating the cheese. Then the last new step cutting something with a butter knife. This is the first time I let Josh handle any kind of knife. Leverage was important and cutting in the same spot as well as using the correct side of the knife.

But he was so proud. Look at that smile!

Please Vote for my room colors

Well I am getting excited with my new craft room getting slowly closer and closer to being done. It is no where ready to paint yet, but these are the paint colors I am leaning toward.

First of all there is a nice size window in the room and we will be putting in lots of lighting and lots of cabinets. I want to paint the cabinets in the whiteish color or maybe I should do it in the brown. Hmmm. The orange is only to be a splash here and there.

Last Splash Pad Playgroup of the Summer

We went to the Worlds Fair Park again. My kids were excited to Liam when we pulled up and doubly excited to see Brielle and Benson show up. It was strangely cooler this day. It must have been down in the low 90's. Yes, that's right I said cooler! It was overcast which was nicer for us mommies.

We had a new friend join us Katerina I'm excited to get to know her mom better. They just became full time in our ward the last couple of months. They had been commuting between here and Nashville. Yuck.

Holly felt like it was too cold and insisted on having her towel early. Really she just wanted to sit with the mommies.

We finally went to the park. I think that the kids enjoyed this the most. They had a whole park to themselves but they kept running around and congregating on one item at a time. How many more kids could we have gotten on there? After we ate lunch it looked like it was about to rain.

All us mommies were hurrying to pack up the kids and our stuff. I stood under a tree as it poured another mommy went under the play structure and had most of the kids with her; when the kids realized why are missing out on the rain and ran out to play in it. The slides are SUPER fast when they are that wet. Some of the kids got some serious air!

A new label...Kids say

At nap time I always read a book to Holly. I always sit in this little chair. Well this day I sat down and shortly there after I was on the floor with broken chair under me (and yes, I am still doing Weight Watchers and maintaining my 45lb lost, thank you very much). Holly looks at me and says, "Mommy, it broke because your bottom is so big.". Totally straight faced. Thanks Holly.



So I decided to put a new label on my blog for Kids say (fill in the blank i.e. the craziest things).



The other day we were at our neighbors the Angels (our adopted grandparents). They had just made some blueberry muffins. Mr. Angel gave one to me and one to Holly and offered Josh one. Josh not loving fruit said no thank you. Well later Mr. Angel laughingly told me that Josh came back and asked, "Mr. Angel can you pick the blueberries out of a muffin?". Mr. Angel regretfully told him no, he said that he felt bad for Josh.



When Holly was asked by Don this morning if she would rather have candy or blueberries, Holly answered, "Blueberries". Don wants to know what is wrong with our daughter.

Reno Update- from last weekend

This last weekend I did a little demo on our reno. I took out these wood shelves. Don said I was a little mean to the wood as I hit with the hammer and used the pry bar.


We also worked on installing installation and green board for behind the washer, dryer and water heater. I am getting more jobs as the reno goes on. I have now cut and installed installation and screwed in the "lid" (the ceiling dry wall) of the laundry area (I wasn't stong enough to hold it up thus I got to use the power tools). We also put up a can for the laundry light and ran some wiring. Bit by bit we are getting there. We probally could have done more, but Don HAD (no needed to) cut the lawn in the backyard. Unfortunately, he only had 1/3 done when it started to down pour. He finished and then edged the backyard. The front yard didn't make it, the poor guy was drenched to the bone by the time he was done.

SCCCOOOORRRREEE!

I hear this title like one of those MC's for soccer championships.





So we are hoping to give the kids their own rooms by the end of the year. Since they now have 1 drawer each in an armories that Don built when Josh was born I am thinking that they might need new dressers. On Friday I went to a garage sale across from our house and saw this cute little white nightstand. I didn't buy it, because I wanted to talk to Don.





I woke-up at 7am with kids on Saturday and decided maybe I should check out the garage sales online. There was a garage sale not too far away that was a 30 family group effort. I thought surely there would be some furniture there. I feed the kids, plugged them into Saturday morning cartoons kissed a sleepy husband good-bye and off to the garage sell I went.





When I got there I saw these dressers and frame for a mirror.

I'm not a garage saler, but all of it was Broyhill and marked for $40 for the group. I thought cool, I'll offer them $30. There was another lady looking at them and talking on a cell phone. She was asking the person if she should offer on them and see if they would hold them to later. On a high thinking I would loose them I found the closest home owner and offered the full $40 and asked if I could pick them up a little later. Okay so that was a little ruthless, but isn't that the law of the garage sale? The good thing is Don liked them as well.

On the way home I stopped at the garage from the day before and the little night stand was still there. I offered them $10. This one need new paint and also some pulls, but I love the lines and all the drawers still work. Yeah, both of the kids are going to have furniture. Now let's see if I can talk Don into painting one of them white for Holly's room.

Somethings we did last week....

This last week wasn't super busy we did have something almost everyday though.

Monday: We went to the Norwood Library and heard their music time. The guy was kinda kids meets folksy, but the kids seemed to like him and are still singing a few songs he taught them. I read.
Tuesday: Movies at the mall. We saw 'Pirates that don't do anything'. I didn't realize that it was a veggie tale. They're not my favorite. I think that their voices bug me after a while. The kids thought that it was exciting, I mean it involved pirates! I on the other hand fell asleep for a short while. (I was really exhausted at the beginning of the week, so I totally have an excuse!) This is the Texas Roadhouse Armadillo. They are sponsoring the free movies this year and give out free kid meal coupons after the show. Needless to say we have a ton. The kids wanted a picture with him.

On Wednesday we went to playgroup, but that always gets it's own post. Thursday I was getting ready for my pampered chef party. Some where in the week I took my kids with me to the grocery store and Holly was dressed up like Batman and Josh was dressed like Superman (bet you didn't know that Superman carries a knights sword). No pics of that one I am unsure why.

Friday: We went to the other library where story times theme was hat day. Josh opted for the firemans hat, Holly went from a tirra, to a construction hat and finally decided on an Easter Sunday hat. We got there a little early and Josh made friends with 8 year old twins. I don't know why I worry about him and other boys I

always think that they won't understand him or think that he is a little hyper/crazy. You know what I think all boys are a little hyper/crazy! What kind of hat did I wear? I wanted to wear the pirate hat with the dreads (like from Pirates of the Caribbean), but alas I forgot it. Oh well.
