A thought from Josh

Last Sunday Josh told me, "Mom, when I am a dad, I'm not going to make kids take naps!". To Josh I say, we shall see.

My Garden - Week 6 Fruits of my labor

Yeah, a new batch of strawberries!

Box 1 The watermelon. They are trying to escape the cage, but I keep making them go in circles. There are only 4 plants in here.

Box 2 Our lettuce looks ready to eat and the corn has these little bud things starting to happen.

Box 3 I have sweet peas and cucumbers growing and ready to harvest. Wahoo.

Box 4 Same stuff with onions and bell peppers.

Box 5 My tomatoes are getting taller and little buds are showing and even my marigolds are doing wonderful.

Box 6 I have flowers on my honeydew.

Box 7 My zucchini has flowers and I have green beans to pick, my broccoli is still trying to decide if they want to grow.

Box 8 My last corn.

The fruits of my labor, a cucumber, green beans and one sweet peas.

A new wall

Don framed the last wall for his room. Please excuse the mess. All of long garage is now being pushed into our new small garage area. We totally need to organize, but first thing first. Just keeping you updated. Have I said that I am excited about this.

Let's go to the movies......

Ah, free summer movies. I love them! All of June, July and part of summer. Notice (besides the fact the picture is fuzzy and Josh's head is chopped off) the kids' water bottles and backpacks. They are now in charge of carrying all their stuff. Water, snacks, toys, extra clothes (if need, swimming) etc. We go to the free movies bring our own snack and it is air conditioned.

Last week we saw Planet 51 a movie I had never seen. At one point they were going to saw a mans head open to get a brain, Josh was like "Mom let's go, let's go". When his friends saved him, Josh was like, "This is the best movie ever, YES!"

We walked out of the movies and got a coupon for a free kids meal at Texas Roadhouse. I love free, I love free movies, I love summer.

Go, go, go

This week we went, went, went.
Monday- We had friends over to play in the water (unfortunately one of them were stung twice and Josh was stung as well). We also went to a magic show where Josh was an assistant.
Tuesday - We went to the movies.
Wednesday - We went with the playgroup to the IJAMS Nature Center
Thursday - We had different friends over to play in the water
Friday - We went to the zoo and then over to friends house to have dinner
Sunday- we celebrated father's day.

All in all we had a lot of fun.

Happy Father's Day

For father's day Don got a saw and the kids made him some home made cards. It was very sweet. Speaking of sweet I made Don this Snicker's ice cream cake. I totally stole this idea from my friend Elizabeth (yes, she is awesome!). Okay, check this out. It has a yellow cake mix that has peanut butter mixed into the batter. You cut that horizontally. Put one layer down then top it with carmel icing, top that with yummy ice cream, then put on brownie that has carmel icing with peanut butter mixed in spread on both sides, then top that with more ice cream and then the last layer of cake. Now you spread chocolate icing on the out side of it all and top that with candy bar. I have to admit I did have a hard time spreading the icing over the ice cream that is why it is not so pretty, but it was yummo!

The ZOOOOOOOOO

Our friend invited us to go to the zoo. So when I asked the kids if they wanted to go to the zoo or the library it was not a hard decision. We had a great time. We met up with another friend and everyone had a great time. First we went to the zoo. Elephants, Camels, Butterflies, Zebras, Monkeys. I love the picture with Holly and the Monkey putting his hand to the glass.

Then we went the Wee Zoo, which I love. There are all these cool little places to play
and pretend. We even saw the zoo mascot. Pretty cool!

Then we went to the outside play area. They have a sandpit, and this really cool Lily pad pond place. The kids all had a great time and were totally worn out.
Josh sitting on a frog. If you push a button on the frog it spits water.

IJAMS Park

For play group last week we went to IJAMS park. No it is not pronounced I jams, but I-ams. It is a nature park that has a little discovery center and LOTS of trails. Here is one of the rangers showing us an albino box turtle. They give it 15 minutes of sun everyday to help it get vitamin D.

After that we went walking on a trial. Strollers and all. There were five mommies, three strollers, and thirteen kids. Alice was packing her baby and was the fun mom pointing out all the cool bugs and dead fish. We walked until we came to a boardwalk and got to see some pretty views. Here is Holly looking out at the river and a bunch of the kids climbing a bolder.

Josh and I.

Monday's Magic Show

Our library has a summer program where through out the summer they have special presentations. This last Monday we went to the magic show. I have to admit he is a decent magician. My kids were really excited to go. It gotten even more exciting when Josh was picked as one of the assistants.

He and another little girl was picked. When the magicain went to introduce the two helpers Josh held out his hand to shake hers, but she shook her head no. No matter, didn't even faze Josh.

The trick on the other hand cracked him (Josh) up. There were hanky's involved and the magicain "accidently" dropped them or pushed them out of the magic tube.

TAH-DA!!

Josh got a balloon dog for his assistance!
