Fair time

Went to the Emergency Preparendess Fair this last weekend, with my prep friend in crime, Susan.  I love Emer. Prep Fairs, it's like going to a candy store.  There are classes on bread making, couponing, budgeting, canning, food storage and many more.  I love looking at all the different ideas and just soaking up all the information.  Next year I hope to have a booth at the fair as a shelf reliance consultant.  The emergency prep fair is kinda like general conference after attending I feel recharged to do the things I should be doing.  I just love it!

Goodwill Hunting

Last Friday I went Goodwill hunting with some friends. They took me to all the best Goodwill's. It was a whole day of sales. The last weekend of the month here, all Goodwill's have 50% off of everything. I scored on everything I needed and then some. I thought I did pretty good for $39.50 I got:

2 dresses for Holly

1 sweater for Holly

1 Causal business jacket for me

1 dress for me

1 skirt for me

3 graphic tees for Josh (I hate graphic tees)

3 pants for next fall for Josh

8 pairs of shorts for Josh

1 pair of pj's for Josh

1 baby shower present onesie (with tags still on never been used).

I love bargains not to mention that some of these are Tommy Hilfiger, GAP, Old Navy. Not that my kids care or does it change if I would buy it. It just goes to show you can get good stuff at Goodwill if your willing to go hunting!

And don't mind that weird smell at the store- clothes go straight into the wash.

Thanks to my friends who took me it was alot of fun. Thanks to Holly and Katarina who were excellant even though they were stuck in a stroller for 4 stores spread over 51/2 hours.

I love free

This Saturday my neighbors daughter called me to let my know that a church in Knoxville was giving 25 bulbs away, to each family for FREE! It took my forever to find the place because it was on one of the longest streets here, but I got my free bulbs and left I waited in line for maybe four minutes. Totally awesome. I can't wait to plant them in my front flower bed.

I love a good sale (okay I'm addicted)

So, Old Navy had 40% off their clearance. I bought a few things for the future. I got this blue shirt Originally 10.50 final cost 3.00.



I got these boy stripe shirts org. 7.50 final cost 3.00.














I got these fleece long sleeves org 14.50 (pok-a-dots) & 9.50 final cost 4.50 and 2.40.

I got these long sleeve v-necks org 7.50 final cost 2.50.

I got these pants org. 19.50 for 5.40 and the shorts org. 19.50 final cost 4.50.

But the best deal of all was this shirt which was .29 cents. No there are no flaws it was an Internet return so it was marked way down.

Grand total org. 126.oo I paid 36.59. I was ecstatic!

Books I've read

I read 30 Books this year. The last book I read was Nobody's Princess. Not bad for a year. So I am starting a new list the year. Actually no I am wrong. I read 31 books because I also read The Book of Mormon too. I really enjoyed my reading time. It was something I had lost for a while.

Addicted to sale shopping

Have I told you that I am addicted to sale shopping. I really need to get help. Sometimes I just want to buy it because it is on sale. I need to work on sticking to my list. But check this out My total was $82.50, but I paid 32 dollars oh yeah!



I got 12 cans of Campbell's cream of soup (which I never see go on sale!) and Playtex gloves for FREEEEEEEE!



I think that my ultimate goal is to bet my friends percentage of savings at Kroger. Hers is always better than mine. This week I saved 63% she saved 83%.



I mean my goal is to make sure that my family have food storage, yeah that's what I mean.

RS Activitiy

We had a real fun activity this last week, "Pleasant Ridge Sisters got talent". We each brought a talent or a hobby to share about us a bit. It was fun to learn what interest other people and why. There was only really two talent show kinda talents. One sister played a really pretty piece of 'Be still my soul' and two other sisters did a great rap, wigs and all.

There was a variety of things from doing hair and making hair pretties, to organizing, to frugal shopping, there was exercising, baking, crafts just a bunch of different stuff. I brought in a bunch of things I like to do, read, scrapbook, can, garden, and jewelery making. I had a great time.

Duck-Duck-Goose

Yep, I did it. I tried consigning at the bi-annual duck duck goose sale. If you have never been there it is over whelming. The amount of clothes, shoes, baby stuff, toys and the time you have to stand in line to check out. This is not for the faint of heart. I am hoping to make enough to have money for the kids clothes until April when I want to consign again. For future note. If you consign in October it is good to do toys they pretty much sold our in two days of the toy stuff. People are planning for Christmas. I will let you know if I happy with the out come later. Go buy my stuff. 1/2 off day is on Monday.

This is an old Kmart that is now totally full. I could barely find a place to hang the clothes up that I was trying to sell.

Garden fresh produce

Here are some of the produce from the garden. My poor garden is getting a little sad. I need to replant somethings like my cucumbers and green beans. I will wait a bit and replant my peas. We'll see if anything works. It is so hot I just need there to be more rain. I am just happy to have the produce that I can get. Here is our first watermelon that we picked. I think I picked it a little too early, but I was excited!

The tomatoes are actually my neighbors but the rest were mine.

Aren't these corns cute. I don't know when you are suppose to pick them. I had heard that when the tassels turn brown you should pick them. We shall see, we haven't eaten them yet.

Oh yeah, I sewed this!

My friend let me borrow a pattern for this reversible purse. I love the material. After rereading the instructions on how to do the handle it was pretty easy. In fact I want to make another with a matching skirt. Of course I will wait until either JoAnn's or Hobby Lobby has a sale on fabric.

Attack of the Zucchini

We are still getting alot of zucchini. Last week I made some zucchini bread with a recipe that my neighbor had given me. My kids and Don love it. I kept telling them, "You don't want it, it has zucchini in it." that didn't stop them. I think that I might make a few more batches and give it away. I can't wait until I have an extra freezer, then I can freeze it or freeze cut up zucchini or zucchini choc cake, the possibilities are endless.

Fourth project

I made these quilted fourth shirts. It really didn't take hardly any material. I got quarter flats in red, white, and blue and I still probably have enough for four more years. The hardest part was lettering. I decided to print it on iron transferable and it took me forever to figure out how to make my printer print in mirror image. The rest was really easy. I let everyone pick their shape. Holly a butterfly, Josh a star, Don a bald eagle, and me a heart. Again I stole the idea from my friend Lori. She is my sewing guru. If I can do this so can you. My Garden - Week 6 Fruits of my labor

Box 1 The watermelon. They are trying to escape the cage, but I keep making them go in circles. There are only 4 plants in here.








Box 2 Our lettuce looks ready to eat and the corn has these little bud things starting to happen.








Box 3 I have sweet peas and cucumbers growing and ready to harvest. Wahoo.

Box 5 My tomatoes are getting taller and little buds are showing and even my marigolds are doing wonderful.

Box 7 My zucchini has flowers and I have green beans to pick, my broccoli is still trying to decide if they want to grow.

A picture of my neighbors garden. Now mind you this is the part peeking over our fence. It's like a garden on steroids. I am so jealous, no, I'm not coveting, I still love my garden I just hope to grow like this in the future.

Every time I look at this it moves all around UGGHHH!
